Introduction

High voltage circuit breakers have traditionally been tested with at least one side of the contacts disconnected from ground. This has mainly been due to the challenges that arise when trying to test a circuit breaker with both sides grounded. Although this has been the accepted practice for many years, it has always put the test engineers or technicians at an increased safety risk. In order to perform circuit breaker timing under safer conditions, different methods of testing with both sides grounded have been developed using various technologies. HANDY GKC436E switchgear analyzer provide a new technologies method to test HV live-tank circuit breaker, dead-tank circuit breaker or gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) at both sides grounded state. It makes your testing work safely and simple.

General Description

● GKC436E Circuit breaker circuit breaker analyzer with both sides grounded is used for testing electrical and mechanical characteristic of all high voltage circuit breaker (from 10KV to 1000KV CB).

● Provides reliable and accurate test results for Measuring the time parameters (close, open, asynchronous, bounce) of 12 main contacts.

● Test set control: via keyboard and a large transflective LCD display

● Internal thermal printer 57 mm wide

● Huge recording capability: 256 Mb (typically 500 results).

● Capability to transfer results directly to an USB pen drive

● USB interface for data communication with the PC.

● Two driving coil circuits (O+C). The coil current is independently measured on all outputs, with two current ranges.

● 12 main contact sensing circuits.

● Test of the main contact and of the pre-insertion resistor.

● Six auxiliary input circuits.

● For the main and event inputs, measurement of delays with respect to coil currents or other references.

● The Open or Closed state of main inputs is displayed by 12 lights: thanks to these lights, the status of the circuit breaker is continuously monitored.

● Coil current measurement.

● Two low DC voltage measurement inputs, for the measurement of position transducers stroke and speed,

● DC voltage source for close and open coil command.

● Many triggers can start the recording.

● Capability of generating or sensing a trigger, so that a number of units can operate at the meantime.

● All possible test sequences are programmable, including test cycling.

● Test result is shown on the display: it is possible to analyze, zoom and so on.

● Capability of storing and recalling both test settings and test results.

● The software HDSWITCHTEST(that operates with WINDOWS 2000 up) is included: it allows analyzing test results, adding notes, saving into a data base and so on. It allows also to store and recall test settings.

● The device allows to perform the test when the circuit breaker has both ends connected to earth, thus maximizing the test safety.

● All circuits have been designed to ensure safe operation in the noisy environment of HV and MV substations.

● The instrument is housed in a transportable box, that is provided with removable cover and handles for ease of transportation.
